    BCSS Branches

A BCSS Branch is a community based association of people who volunteer their time and energy to help improve the lives of people with serious mental illness and their families.

BCSS members and volunteers are active in the areas of family support, public education, housing and rehabilitation and provide an invaluable contribution to the well being of the entire province.

BCSS branches run support groups — a caring and safe environment for families and friends to talk about how mental illness affects them and to share ways on how to cope.

Support groups help to enhance the family’s understanding of mental illness and decrease the stress of family members. They provide an opportunity to meet with other family members and help to facilitate links among families and resources in the community.
