    Job Posting - Haida Gwaii

    BC Schizophrenia Society
    Regional Coordinator
    Haida Gwaii - Queen Charlotte Islands
    Permanent Part-Time (10 - 15 hrs/wk)
    Starting - Immediately

    We are recruiting an energetic and motivated individual to work with families of people with serious and persistent mental illness.
    Reporting to the Northwest BC Schizophrenia Society Regional Manager the coordinator will be responsible for:
    • Providing support and education to families dealing with mental illness
    • Establishment and support of family support groups
    • Implementing a “Partnership Education Program”
    • Liaising with local and regional mental health representatives including Northern Health Adult Mental Health & Addictions, Mental Health Advisory Committees, Ministry of Children and Family Development
    • Other related duties
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. An excellent working knowledge of computers and software programs is necessary. Must be able to work independently and as a team member. Demonstrated ability to recruit & supervise volunteers. Experience as a teacher/facilitator. Must be willing to travel and provide outreach support and education to the communities of Haida Gwaii - Queen Charlotte Islands. Access to and use of an appropriately insured vehicle is required. A knowledge of Mental Illness and the Mental Health & Addictions system would be an asset. A good understanding of the needs of family members is beneficial. An ability to meet one on one with family members to offer support is necessary.
