Planned Giving - Where there’s a Will, there’s a way!
What is Planned Giving?
Planned Giving is a way to donate to the charity of your choice in a more formally structured mannerthan simply writing a cheque annually, supporting an event through participation or making contributions through a monthly withdrawal plan.
Many Planned Gifts involve a significant donation size. The gift may be made now, or in the future.
Usually there are tax planning considerations to ensure that the maximum tax benefit is achieved by the donor, and legal or formal documents need to be completed. Before proceeding with your Planned Gift, you should consult with the charity that will benefit from your Planned Gift to ensure the gift meets with its acceptance criteria, as well as consulting with your own advisors.
A Planned Gift to the BC Schizophrenia Society is a way in which you can support the mission of the our organization. You may choose to direct your gift to be used to support BCSS Programs/Services or toward Research.
Your Planned Gift may take various forms:
- You may donate through leaving a Bequest or Legacy in your will, to be paid after your death.
- You may choose to designate MIND Foundation as the beneficiary of an existing insurance policy, a RRSP or a RRIF.
- You may choose to make a gift of shares of a publicly traded company or mutual fund.
- You may decide to establish a Charitable Remainder Trust.
- You may decide to purchase a Charitable Gift Annuity.
- You may wish to create an Endowment Fund to be held in perpetuity in memory of a special person, or yourself.
- You may decide to create a Discretionary Trust under the terms of your will, and leave MIND Foundation the balance of the trust remaining at the time of the death of the life-tenant.
Please consider the benefits of making a Planned Gift to the BC Schizophrenia Society as part of your financial planning strategy, both now and in the future.
