Planned Giving
Planned Giving is a way to donate to the British Columbia Schizophrenia Society in a more formally structured way. The gift may be made now, or in the future.
Because there are tax planning considerations to ensure that the maximum tax benefit is achieved by the donor, and legal or formal documents need to be completed, you will normally wish to consult with a lawyer or gift planning advisor when making this kind of donation.
A Planned Gift to the BC Schizophrenia Society is a way in which you can support the mission of the Society to improve the quality of life for people affected by schizophrenia and psychosis through education, support, public policy and research.
Your Planned Gift may take various forms:
- Bequest: You may donate through leaving a Bequest or Legacy in your will, to be paid to BCSS after your death. (sample will wording)
- You may choose to designate the BC Schizophrenia Society as the beneficiary of an existing insurance policy, a RRSP or a RRIF.
- You may choose to make a gift of shares of a publicly traded company or mutual
fund. - You may decide to establish a Charitable Remainder Trust.
- You may decide to purchase a Charitable Gift Annuity.
- You may wish to create an Endowment Fund to be held in perpetuity in memory of a special person, or yourself.
- You may decide to create a Discretionary Trust under the terms of your will, and leave the BC Schizophrenia Society the balance of the trust remaining at the time of the death of the life-tenant.
Please consider the benefits of making a Planned Gift to the BC Schizophrenia Society as part of
your financial planning strategy, both now and in the future.
