2009-10 Financial Snapshot
Summary:
BCSS’s regional programs and services provided by regional support and project coordinators are funded 100% by the health regions those services benefit. These services include family support, support to branches and community education.
Services provided province-wide are funded through a combination of sources, mostly the provincial government and fund raising. The majority of provincial office expenditures go to family and program support.
The support provided by BCSS provincial office to families has been estimated to save $ 6,000,000-$17,000,000 per year in health care costs alone, by preventing relapses and hospitalizations. (The high and low numbers correspond to different rates found by several studies showing significant reductions of relapse in ill members of families receiving family support)
