BCSS Awards recognize individuals who have gone beyond the call of duty in helping the Society achieve its mission: To improve the quality of life for those affected by schizophrenia and psychosis through education, support programs, public policy, and research.

Awards Presentation – SEPTEMBER 25, 2011 at BCSS Annual General Meeting
Nominations may be submitted by mail, fax or email. Nomination and supporting documents due JULY 15, 2011
Founders Award – Criteria: . Member of BCSS. Ongoing commitment and involvement volunteering at local or provincial level to improve services for people with schizophrenia and other serious mental illnesses and their families.
Calder Cup – Criteria: Awarded to a person with schizophrenia or other serious mental illness who has contributed to our mission. Outstanding participation in education; boards, committees, or councils at the local, regional or provincial level.
Lucy Waters Leadership Award – Criteria: BCSS volunteer (member or non member). Leadership abilities at the local or provincial level that have resulted in improved services for people with schizophrenia and other serious mental illnesses and their families.
Richard Dolman Award for Excellence in Police Service – Criteria: Awarded to a police officer (municipal or RCMP) who has provided extraordinary and innovative service, affected positive change, and had a beneficial impact on the lives of people with serious mental illness and their families.
Media Award – Criteria: Member(s) of the print or electronic media for effectively advancing the cause of schizophrenia by bringing awareness of the illness to the attention of the public.
Elaine Preston Award for Family Education – For significant contribution to alleviating the suffering of schizophrenia and other serious mental illness through education for family members and consumers.
Gayle Tissington Staff Award of Excellence – Criteria: BCSS staff member (provincial or local). For outstanding contribution by a staff member through their work towards our mission at the Provincial and/or local levels of BCSS.
Renate Varwig Award for Outstanding Service – Criteria: BCSS volunteer (member or non member) whose work at local or provincial level has significantly contributed to alleviating the suffering caused by schizophrenia and other serious mental illness.
