Re-Mind: A day of art, music and readings
Wednesday, May 24, 2017
In recognition of National Schizophrenia & Psychosis Awareness Day, B.C. Schizophrenia Society is hosting “Re-Mind: A day of art, music and readings” to reframe serious and persistent mental illnesses to showcase the hope and achievements of artists, musicians and writers with severe and persistent mental illness, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, etc.
And we want you! We are looking for talented artists in the community to take part in the day’s event in a creative way. Be it through painting, music and/or storytelling.
Our emphasis will be on creating a day to end stigma surrounding these brain disorders by showcasing members of the community to come and take part through artistic means. In Canada, one percent of the population is affected by schizophrenia and approximately three per cent will experience a psychotic episode during their lifetime.
There are no guidelines, just a willingness to take part in a fun day of activity and awareness!
We will determine how best to showcase your work depending on your submissions.
This year’s event will be held at the Beaumont Studios, West 5th Avenue at Alberta Street and will include live music and food. Looking forward to hearing from you!
OPEN TO ALL ARTISTS
**Be sure to include on the subject line ”Art Submission”
