OUR CORE VALUES
The British Columbia Schizophrenia Society is a non-profit organization founded in 1982 by families and friends of people with schizophrenia. Since then, BCSS has grown into a province-wide family support system with 30 Branches, 11 Regional Coordinators, 3 Program Coordinators and over 1600 members. We are dedicated to supporting each other, educating the public, raising funds for research and advocating for better services for people with schizophrenia and other serious and persistent mental illnesses.

BCSS has a Board of Directors whose role is to act honestly and in good faith in the best interests of the society. Board members create broad policy to governing the mandates of the Society and raise funds on behalf of BCSS.
Next year we will be celebrating our 30th year of bringing hope to those affected by schizophrenia and psychosis. What a long way we have come!
The last few years have been challenging as we worked to overcome government funding cuts, the economy, and barebones staffing. There is still much work to be done as we realign the Provincial Office, bringing on new personnel and resources to help us empower families and strengthen our organization.
