Welcome to the September edition of the Friends newsletter.
In this edition:
Shaw.ca email address problems – our newsletter may not be getting through to our subscribers with shaw.ca email addresses, due to some hopefully temporary problems at our email host. If you have friends you think would like this newsletter, we hope you will forward it to them. Thanks!
If you haven’t already, check out our BC Schizophrenia Society fan page on Facebook. You can see it at www.facebook.bcss.org or just go to our site and click on the link in the right sidebar. If you become a fan, you get to show your support for BCSS, and you get a little facebook post in your newsfeed when new information is posted on the website. Keep up to date on the latest of what BCSS is doing.
As well, BCSS is now on Twitter. You can find our posts by searching for #bcss and if you would like to follow us, our username is BCSchizophrenia. If you see something on the BCSS site you like and would like to share via twitter, there is now a twitter link on every page that you can click to easily share the page you are on. There is also a ‘Share/Save’ section on the right which allows you to post information from the BCSS site to any social networking tool you can imagine.
Why are we doing this? Using social media to spread information for people with schizophrenia and the people who love them helps us reach out to let people know they’re not alone, and that there is help. These tools also let us get information out to the places younger adults are and makes it easier for people to have conversations with their friends and families about neurobiological brain disorders and mental illness. The opposite of shame is pride, and with our determination, perseverance and love, we’ve got a lot to be proud of.
Video Version of Strengthening Families Together
