Hi there,
As subscribers to the Mental Health Professionals Family Resources e-newsletter, I thought you might know of some resources for family members at your own agencies that we have not yet featured and which your colleagues might appreciate knowing about. If you do, I hope you will send in that information so we can make sure family members of persons with a mental illness and those assisting them know about your resource for families/supporters.
Featured resources will be promoted in one or more of the enewsletters going out to subscribers who are either family members, or mental health professionals and teachers. Examples of past newsletters are available here: www.elists.bcss.org
Each newsletter has at least one featured family resource in it, which is paired with a stable listing of resources for families and the family calendar of support and education events for that month. The deadline for submission is the 25th of each month, with the newsletter generally going out in the first week of the following month. Exposure for resources is approximately 1,000 subscribers including all three lists, plus web views.
Criteria for all newsletters:
· Resources such as: Support groups, programs, conferences, fact sheets, manuals, toolkits or web resources. (for events, see below)
· Primarily for or accessible to supporters/family of a person with a mental illness (including addictions resources that support concurrent disorders).
· Resources applicable solely to a person with a mental health or addictions concern are not suitable.
If you would like to recommend a resource I need the following:
A short paragraph of text describing the resource. A website address to include for more information (an email or phone will do in a pinch)
If you have a resource that is primarily for professionals or teachers in BC (such as a colloquium on supporting family members), that’s fine too. To submit events for the family events calendar, please use this form: http://www.bcss.org/2008/01/branches/calendarform/
Thanks,
Sophia Kelly
