Welcome to the Educators Resource E-Newsletter.

This newsletter gives regular updates on mental health information for teachers and services, programs and information available to family members and supporters of persons with a mental illness. It also provides updates on the ReachOut Psychosis program, a free assembly presentation that visits high schools throughout British Columbia, providing an action packed musical presentation along with information on how to spot and stop psychosis early.

The ReachOut Psychosis Presentation Wins Two Awards!

The ReachOut Psychosis presentation Video shown on our site at www.reachoutpsychosis.com has been selected by and will be featured at the 6th International Conference on Early Psychosis October 22-24 in Melbourne, Australia.

The ReachOut Psychosis program also won the Schizophrenia Society of Canada Initiatives/Programs of Excellence Award for 2008.

Drugs and Psychosis

Psychosis can be induced by drugs or can be “drug assisted”. Some stimulating drugs, like amphetamines, can cause psychosis, while other drugs, including marijuana, can trigger the onset of psychosis in someone who is already at increased risk because they have “vulnerability”.
