BC Schizophrenia Society has been carefully monitoring the progression of the virus and closely following the advice of Canada’s public health authorities. As the virus continues to spread in communities across Canada and BC, we made the difficult, but important decision to suspend until further notice all face-to-face programs and services including Strengthening Families Together sessions, Kids in Control & Teens in Control Sessions, Partnership Presentations, and Family Support Groups, effective immediately.
As we all know, a pandemic causes a tremendous amount of stress, and it can be a particularly difficult time for families who are caring for a loved one with serious mental illness. We are exploring other ways to deliver select programs and services in a manner that best follows the recommendations put forth to protect both our staff and the people we serve.
Currently, have moved some of our programs and services to a virtual format. Details about what is being offered where and how can be found here.
Our Regional Educators and teams will continue providing support for family members through remote means (i.e. email or telephone).
We will continue to keep you, our families, updated on future BCSS services, programming, and events.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or through phone at 1-888-888-0029.
