On January 14, 2023, the BC Schizophrenia Society partnered with Yes2Me Scholarship recipient Hakeem Al-Zayyidi, an Islamic motivational and inspirational speaker, to present at the Richmond Jamia Mosque and share his journey of living with schizophrenia.
This event had approximately 100 people in attendance and 200 additional remote viewers via The Richmond Jamia Mosque’s Facebook Live. BCSS would like to congratulate the Richmond Muslim Community for addressing the topic of severe and persistent mental illnesses and taking a step forward in helping provide their community with much-needed resources.
Lastly, BCSS would like to thank Richmond Jamia Mosque for making it possible for BCSS team members Rosemary Sojka and Muhammad Masood to attend and distribute resourceful material during Hakeem’s presentation.
BCSS hopes to cross paths with Richmond Jamia Mosque in the future.
