One of the pivotal moments of 2022-2023 was the remarkable $5 million in funding that the BC Government awarded us in May 2022. This has been instrumental in extending essential programs and services to underserved regions, particularly rural and northern areas of BC. This underscores the critical role of partnerships and highlights the significant work being done to raise awareness of the needs of families grappling with schizophrenia and other severe mental illnesses.
Going forward, we recognize the need for continued growth and evolution to build a brighter future. To guide us on this journey, the BCSS Board and staff have developed a strategic plan for 2023-2028 with organizational excellence as one of our core focuses. This emphasizes our commitment to constant improvement, evidence-based programs, and services that meet diverse family needs.
We acknowledge that raising awareness and understanding of schizophrenia and severe mental illnesses is challenging. However, we are able to do what we do because of the people who’ve contributed to BCSS’s growth over the past four decades and who continue to help shape our path for the next five years.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our boards, staff, volunteers, and donors as we pursue our goals for a brighter future for families affected by schizophrenia and other severe and persistent mental illnesses. None of these achievements would have been possible without your dedicated efforts.
We are profoundly grateful for your support and look forward to another successful year ahead.
