The BC Schizophrenia Society celebrated its annual Donor Appreciation Event on Wednesday, November 22nd. The occasion was marked by warmth and unforgettable moments as we gathered with cherished donors whose unwavering support has been the backbone of BCSS throughout the years. This year’s event embraced a hybrid format, offering the option for attendees to join either in person or virtually.

Guiding us through the evening was Renato Zane, Volunteer Chair of BCSS Foundation, who, along with Marsha MacMurchy, Director of Development of BCSS, shared updates on the significant achievements accomplished by BCSS over the past year. Rosemary Sojka, Community Presentations Coordinator of BCSS, also provided insights into the latest collaborative effort for the Partnership Education Presentations.

Ron and Melanie, devoted parents of a loved one with a schizophrenia-spectrum disorder.

The event was honoured by the presence of Ron and Melanie, devoted parents of a loved one with a schizophrenia-spectrum disorder. The emotional highlight of the evening was their impactful story, which detailed their initial struggles with schizophrenia and how BCSS regional managers and educators supported them every step of the way. Their firsthand account underscored the profound impact BCSS has on families, emphasizing the pivotal role ongoing donor support plays in making a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by schizophrenia and other severe and persistent mental illnesses.

BCSS extends sincere gratitude to all the guests who attended the Donor Appreciation Event, as well as to the generous donors who have consistently supported BCSS. With your unwavering support, BCSS remains a beacon of positive change, providing vital resources and support to those affected by schizophrenia.
