National Schizophrenia and Psychosis Awareness Day across the province

Every year, the BC Schizophrenia Society looks for ways to recognize National Schizophrenia and Psychosis Awareness Day in our own communities, and this year was no different. From info booths to painting the town purple, here are just a few of the things that happened this year to mark the day.

Tk’emlups te Secwepemc Band in Kamloops made a proclamation for National Schizophrenia and Psychosis Awareness Day.
Kamloops City Council made a proclamation for National Schizophrenia and Psychosis Awareness Day.
BCSS Prince George Branch opened their doors to the community and held a BBQ for the community.
The community honked their support for the first annual Bridge Blitz in Kamloops on May 24th.

In addition to hosting “Re-Frame: The Broad Impacts of Schizophrenia”and“Re-Mind: An evening of art, music, and readings”, various landmarks in Vancouver turned purple to show their support for schizophrenia awareness. A huge thank you to the following organizations for their support in lighting up in purple: the City of Vancouver, BC Place, Telus World of Science, and Lookout Harbour Centre.
