VANCOUVER, BC—The British Columbia Schizophrenia Society (BCSS) launched the fourth season of its enlightening podcast series “Look Again: Mental Illness Re-Examined” on January 3rd, 2024.
This new season continues BCSS’s commitment to deepening public awareness and understanding of serious mental illnesses such as schizophrenia. Season four features seven episodes that mix expert interviews and personal stories from individuals who live with mental illness or care for someone with a serious mental illness. The trailer and first episode can be found here.
The upcoming season also adds Melissa McKenna, BCSS’s marketing and communications manager, as a host alongside BCSS CEO Faydra Aldridge. “We are excited to incorporate a new voice as a co-host this season with the goal of reaching more people, particularly a younger audience,” Faydra says.
Episodes will be released every second Wednesday on topics like virtual reality as a tool for managing psychosis, early psychosis intervention programs, and how social media can help educate youth on mental illness. The first episode’s guest is Kody Green, a TikTok influencer known as @schizophrenichippie, who shares his experience living with schizophrenia and creating content about his mental illness.
One of the primary goals of the podcast is to challenge and reduce the stigma associated with mental illnesses like schizophrenia. Through short and easily digestible episodes, “Look Again” aims to present a more nuanced and empathetic understanding of serious mental illness to counter prevalent misconceptions and stereotypes and fill the gap in mental health discussions.
“Look Again: Mental Illness Re-Examined” takes a close look at the reality of serious mental illness and the role we play in helping those living with it lead the most productive lives possible.
