On June 11, 2022, BCSS’ East Kootenay Family Support group came together for an in-person lunch to share their experiences and renew friendships after COVID. Lot of hugs and smiles with good and not so good news of loved ones were shared.
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank Melodie, a former Psychiatric nurse, for believing in the power of sharing hope with families, and the Community Foundation of the Kootenay Rockies for making a gathering like this possible.
Families play a very important role in the recovery journey for people living with a severe and persistent mental illness, and our Family Support Groups provide space and encourage family members to connect and support one another through the good and the bad times–ultimately letting us all know that we are not alone.
