DESCRIPTION:There will be a Beyond The Blues: Education and Screening Session at the Northwest Region on Tuesday\, October 22\, 2024 from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre\, Eagle – Room1000 McBride St\, Prince Rupert\, BC V8J 3H2 \nTake part in fun and engaging activities to learn more about mood and anxiety problems\, effective treatments\, supports and self-care. You can then fill out short self-tests on well-being\, depression\, anxiety and risky drinking\, talk privately with a clinician about next steps\, and find out about resources and supports in your community. \nThe events are free\, anonymous\, confidential and walk-in. Most sites also host presentations\, videos or games\, and/or health fairs. Anyone is welcome to attend—whether you want to fill out a self-test or not. If you do choose to a screening\, they are completely free and totally anonymous. The Annual General Meeting and Education Session will begin with the business portion\, followed by the introduction of our keynote speaker\, Bethany Yeiser. \nKeynote Speaker: Bethany Yeiser\nBethany Yeiser will speak about her journey with schizophrenia and homelessness. She is the President of the CURESZ Foundation\, co-founded with Dr. Henry Nasrallah in 2016. CURESZ stands for Comprehensive Understanding via Research and Education into Schizophrenia. Bethany is a motivational speaker\, TEDx presenter\, and author of Mind Estranged: My Journey from Schizophrenia and Homelessness to Recovery.
