BC Schizophrenia Society representatives and supporters hosted an exciting “Lunch and Learn” event October 9th, 2014 for BC MLAs.

Recently retired police chief Jamie Graham, prominent psychiatrist Dr. Bill McEwan, and parents and educators Bill Magee and Eve McBride addressed MLAs and staff at the packed-out session, which was held in the Members’ Lounge of the Legislature. Minister of Health Terry Lake welcomed participants and provided opening remarks

Many other distinguished guests attended the enjoyable and interesting “Lunch and Learn” session, including Minister of Education Peter Fassbender, Chair of the Select Standing Committee on Children and Youth Jane Thornthwaite, and Opposition Mental Health Critic Sue Hammell.

Following the event, BC Schizophrenia Society members and guests were invited to attend the parliamentary question period, and were officially introduced and welcomed to the House by Minister Lake.

We look forward to continuing relations with all members of Parliament who are committed to helping people with mental illness and their families.
