We’re pleased to share an important development from Prince George that marks an exciting milestone in community mental illness care. The BC Schizophrenia Society Prince George Branch has transitioned to a new identity as Oasis Mental Health Services Support Society (OasisPG). This change reflects both their remarkable legacy and their vision for the future.

OasisPG

For over 30 years, this organization has supported individuals, families, and caregivers affected by mental illness and addiction in Prince George and the surrounding region.

In its press release, the organization shared the following statement: “Our new name, Oasis Mental Health Services Support Society, embodies our mission and values, signalling our commitment to inclusiveness, innovation, and positive social impact. For over three decades, we have provided meaningful support and resources, and, while our name is changing, our devotion to our community remains steadfast. We want to assure all stakeholders, donors, volunteers, and community partners that our programs, services, and leadership team will continue as before. Our new identity marks an exciting chapter in our journey, building on our legacy of collaboration and achievement. We look forward to working together to create an even stronger, more vibrant future for everyone.”

OasisPG offers programs and services such as one-on-one support, peer groups, educational workshops, and other resources that shift and grow throughout the year based on what the community actually needs. They’re also active in community engagement and advocacy, connecting people to trusted resources and pathways to help.

At the BC Schizophrenia Society, we know how important it is for organizations to grow and adapt while staying anchored to their mission. OasisPG does exactly that, and we’re looking forward to seeing the impact they will continue to have in the years ahead.
