Are you passionate about severe and persistent mental illness and supporting families? Would you like to share your expertise and experience with a non-profit organization? Consider joining the BC Schizophrenia Society (BCSS) Board of Directors!

We are currently looking for individuals who bring enthusiasm and experience in fundraising, accounting, legal or clinical services, board governance, government relations, and/or lived experience caring for a loved one with a severe and persistent mental illness. The term length for BCSS’ Board of Directors is two years (October 2024 – October 2026).

The BCSS Board is composed of volunteers from across the province who provide governance for the BC Schizophrenia Society as it works to meet its mission of supporting families affected by schizophrenia and other serious mental illnesses in British Columbia through education, advocacy, and research. 

Nominees must be able to demonstrate commitment to BCSS’s Mission, Vision, Core Values, and Strategic Priorities, and be available and willing to fulfill board member duties, including attending board meetings, Annual General Meetings, and other special events. Nominees must be (or be willing to become) a BCSS member.

If you can commit to approximately four hours a month and are interested in helping the BC Schizophrenia Society change people’s perceptions around severe and persistent mental illness: 

  1. Download and complete a nomination application 
  2. Email a completed nomination application to Andrew Stewart at operations@bcss.org 
  3. Become a BCSS Member (pages 3 and 4 of the application)
