Every year, our supporters show profound acts of generosity during our “Holiday Appeal”, and our 2024/2025 campaign was no different. Even through an unexpected postal strike, you stepped up to help raise important funds for our programs and services that support families and individuals affected by schizophrenia and other severe mental illnesses.
Thanks to your generosity, our annual appeal has surpassed all expectations and raised an incredible $115,422!
Your enduring support enables us to continue our essential work on the front lines. With your help, we will:
💡 Deliver vital programs and services to support families and youth.
💡 Drive education initiatives to challenge stigma.
💡 Fund schizophrenia research that is focused on understanding and treating schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders.
This year’s campaign highlighted the story of the Tancon family. In November, Monica’s parents courageously shared their story and reflected on their daughter’s journey and the toll mental illness has taken on their family. Monica’s story is a powerful reminder of the importance of mental illness resources and community support. Her family’s journey with BC Schizophrenia Society highlights the vital role organizations like BCSS play in helping families heal, find hope, and ensure access to life-saving resources when they need them most.
For the ninth consecutive year, Chris Sandy, a former BCSSF board director and dedicated donor, graciously matched donations to a maximum of $10,000. His incredible contribution underscores the spirit of generosity that drives our mission forward.
As we reflect on the success of this year’s holiday appeal, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our generous donors. You’ve made a meaningful contribution to making a difference in the lives of those affected by schizophrenia—providing hope and support for a brighter future.
Thank you again for being a champion of our mission. Here’s to maximizing our programs and services and providing support to British Columbian families dealing with mental illness for another year!
