For more than forty years, the BC Schizophrenia Society (BCSS) has served families affected by schizophrenia and other serious mental illnesses. We are incredibly proud of our history of supporting families and caregivers, raising awareness, and advocating for those with lived experience. At the heart of our mission, we strive to build a more fulfilling future for individuals and their families.

Each year, we build on the work of the past: improving the delivery of our programs, reaching new audiences, educating more people, and driving positive change at the system level. In 2024–25, the BCSS Board and staff dedicated significant effort to advancing our strategic priorities, focusing on:

  1. Strengthening our voice and key messages
  2. Diversifying funding sources and increasing revenue
  3. Organizational excellence
  4. Advocacy and public policy

We have also launched the Youth in Mind newsletter and will continue pilot programs for the Strengthening Families Together – Indigenous program, further extending our reach and impact.

We recognize the challenges ahead, including the need to maximize resources, work efficiently, and do more with less. Yet, we remain confident in our strong partnerships with the BC Government, Ministry of Health, sponsors, and community groups. Our dedicated team of educators, staff, and board members continues to uphold our mission, vision, and values while striving to build a better future for families affected by schizophrenia and other severe mental illnesses.

We sincerely appreciate your support and look forward to another year of meaningful impact.
