It is with sadness and fond memories that we learn of the passing of a beloved volunteer, Judy McCloskey, in BCSS’s Northwest region.
The following is a tribute from our staff who had the privilege of working with her.
“Like many of our families, Judy very much believed in and supported the BCSS mission. She was also an incredibly creative artisan and artist and was very active in the art community. Her biggest passion was being a strong support for her daughter Jesse. Judy came to BCSS for support and education for her family and eventually became active in educating and supporting others. She initially participated in Partnership Education Presentations (PEP), sharing her family’s personal story. Anytime help was needed at a health fair or similar event, Judy was there. After retiring from her career at the Northwest Community College, she was a natural at facilitating the Strengthening Families Together program. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.”

“I worked with Judy since I began at BCSS in 2022 facilitating our family support groups – both in-person and online, as well as our SFT program. She was a dedicated and longstanding volunteer with this organization, and her presence made a meaningful impact on many of the families we support. Bringing professional and life experience into her facilitation gave Judy an ability to connect with families, offer thoughtful insights and provide a sense of support. She was truly appreciated and will be remembered.”

“I worked with Judy for a few months facilitating the Online Support Group. I remember her being very empathetic and paying good attention to whatever was happening to any of the members of the group. Judy was very good at ‘active listening’, always knowing how to respond to any grievances. She was supportive and committed to her role as a facilitator.”

Rest in peace Judy
